Holiday overview

This tour is based in the beautiful village of Carennac with stone houses with brown tiled roofs clustered around the ancient priory, in the heart of the Dordogne Valley, a land of art and history. Cycle to Martel, with its seven towers and medieval merchants’ houses, and return via Gluges where Edith Piaf was baptised in its church.

The river valley features dramatic cliffs overhanging the road. Towns visited include: Rocamadour, its cluster of buildings clinging to the rock half way up the sheer cliffs; Collonges La Rouges with its red stone buildings; the hilltop village of Autoire, famous for its waterfall; the Goufre de Padirac; and the old town of Argentat situated on the Dordogne river.

The village of Carennac is situated on the banks of the Dordogne river in the region of Lot close to the border with Correze. We will be riding in these two regions along river valleys and climbing at a steady pace to lovely old hilltop towns to admire the wow factor views.

This is a beautiful area to cycle in, and a camera is a must.
