Holiday overview

A two-centre tour, staying first in Moussy, situated just outside the Champagne capital of Epernay, from here we will explore two main champagne areas: the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte de Blanc. Cycling along rural roads through the vineyards and small champagne producing villages where you will see the famous names of champagne houses, such as Moët et Chandon, on plaques in front of the vines, visiting the Verzenay lighthouse, a folly built in the middle of the vineyards now a wine museum, and the village of Hautvillers where Dom Perignon made the first bottle of champagne. Cycling along the Côte de Blanc you will see giant champagne bottles at the roadside at the beginning of the villages. There will be a visit to two champagne houses for tastings.

The second stay is based in the village of Dolancourt near the Forêt d’Orient National park, the hotel is in a converted mill, we will be cycling to Essoyes where Renoir lived and worked to visit his studio, we will also visit the medieval town of Piney with it many half-timbered buildings before returning by via the lakes in the Forêt d’Orient national park.
